Foreign mobility as a tool to strengthen the key competencies of students of high school ZSP 4 in Łowicz

Together with the Upper-Secondary School Complex „ZSP nr 4 im. Wł. Grabskiego " in Łowicz, we had the pleasure to implement the project titled "Foreign mobility as a tool to strengthen the key competencies of students of high school ZSP 4 in Łowicz". Project Transnational Mobility of Pupils is co-funded by the European Social Fund as part of the Operational Programme Knowledge Education Development (OP KED). The project is addressed to pupils from public and non-public schools operating within the Polish system of education.

Transnational Mobility of Pupils is of particular benefit to young pupils with the greatest educational needs, disadvantaged ones, pupils with limited access to various forms of education due to geographic, social, economic, health and culture related reasons, and pupils with fewer opportunities for advancement, to whom transnational mobility can be of great importance for the development of competences and future educational and lifestyle choices.

For two weeks of October, 20 Polish students and 3 teachers together with our teachers and pupils participated in project whose main goal was to improve digital and language competences by jointly preparing promotional pages about Katerini and Łowicz regions, showing their tourist values and economic potential. In the realized program, young people under the supervision of experienced and competent teachers from Greece and Poland creating promotional campaigns through the facebook social network which is a global promotional tool to which millions of people from all over the world have access. Classes were conducted in small, international groups of five pupils and were focused on practical learning and cooperation. The project allowed the introduction of elements of competition, which had a positive impact on the involvement and effects of the project. During the classes, young people learned marketing and computer graphics, learned stories, traditions and customs of our country. While working on websites, brochures and leaflets, young people gathered materials, searching for content on the Internet, visiting the Katerini region, taking photos, and getting to know the places of interest and companies. The result of the two-week work was the joint presentation of facebook pages, brochures and leaflets, as well as a discussion of the subject of the project. English was the main working language during the mobility project.
The implementation of mobility has brought a lot of new knowledge and skills for both students and teachers participating in the project. Both youth and school staff could learn a lot from each other by working and exchanging experiences. The recognition of the Katerini and Łowicz regions also increased especially among the school and local community.
The aim of the project was to increase key competences in the field of creating information, using foreign languages, digital, civic, economic and cultural language. Thanks to the project, the organizational skills of those participating in the project were also strengthened by increasing the level and attractiveness of teaching, increasing the competence of the teaching and administrative staff, and establishing new cooperation with the Polish school. As confirmation of the project the mobility participants received certificates at the end of the project.
