Robotics is a new way of teaching, ideal for increasing children's interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). It is a fun way of learning, in which children work in groups to find creative solutions to a problem by building, programming and testing their own robots. Depending on the age of the students, the Lego WeDo 2.0 and Lego Mindstorms EV3 educational robotics packages are used.
Chess can have multiple benefits for the child, such as developing creativity, analytical thinking and concentration. Research has shown that it even helps children's school performance. In collaboration with the Chess Club of Katerini, once a week, there are lessons from a chess teacher at our school, where children can get to know this beautiful strategy game.
Exercise is very important for the physical and mental development of a child. Thus, in addition to swimming, the KDAP program includes other sports activities on our school premises under the guidance of our coaches. The children, therefore, have the opportunity to participate and practice in various team and individual sports of their choice, such as basketball, football, pancratium and team leisure games.
Theatrical play is a fun way for children to be socially educated, develop their communication skills and develop their self-expression skills. In the weekly program there are theatrical education lessons per department, where the children come in contact with the world of theater and arts.
The ability to recognize and control one's emotions and to understand the emotions of those around is called emotional intelligence. The children's teachers organize activities every week, the purpose of which is to enhance the children's emotional intelligence.
Digital competence is perhaps the most important skill of 21ου century. It is essential that children are educated in the proper and safe use of digital systems and that they are informed about the possibilities, usefulness and other dangers of the internet. In the computer rooms of our school, digital skills lessons are held, so that the students, in a pleasant way, get acquainted with the new technologies.
We encourage children to use their imagination and creativity through the arts, which are an integral part of the KDAP program. Students have the opportunity to express themselves through music, painting, construction or any other art form under the guidance of their qualified teachers.
Through original ways of teaching and games, children come into contact with nature, gain valuable knowledge and become aware of environmental issues.
